We’re building technology that prevents falls before they happen.
Falls are one of the leading causes of serious injury and death among older adults — and the numbers are rising every year. But behind every fall is a moment that could have been caught earlier: a slight change in balance, a shorter stride, a shift in gait that signals something’s not right.
That insight shaped the foundation of FallWatch.
The idea didn’t come from a lab — it came from lived experience. Members of our team witnessed how a single fall can mark the beginning of physical and emotional decline. Conversations with carers and health workers only reinforced the same truth: existing solutions tend to act after someone has already hit the ground.
We knew the real need was prevention — to catch the warning signs early, not just respond after the fact.

What We Do
FallWatch is a smart insole that continuously monitors how a person walks. Built-in sensors track key motion metrics like balance, cadence, and stride asymmetry. This data is analysed in real time by a machine learning model trained on thousands of real-world gait patterns.
When subtle deviations appear — ones commonly seen before a fall — our system sends an alert to caregivers or family through a companion app. That means help can be offered before a crisis.
